Electric Locks

I have been asked to install an electric lock to a fire door but have read the lock must have no or very low side load, what is side load?

Side load is when the door or the door being pushed puts pressure on the locking devices’ latch or bolt therefore increasing the effort required to retract it. This makes the door unsafe for an emergency exit.

*Have you seen the ML350 Firelock? This unit is fire tested for 1 hour of burn time and still allows easy operation with up to 225kg of side load pressure applied.

    I am installing a DX200 solenoid bolt; the current rating states 250mA, can I use a 12vdc 1A PSU?

As the DX200 uses 1A at 12vdc to lock we would always advise the use of a 12vdc 2A PSU to accommodate this in rush current, cable type and distance between the lock and PSU.
